How to Install VAIO Fingerprint Driver

When you extract the package, you will see files such as:

.inf files → Setup information files that Windows uses to recognize and install the fingerprint sensor.
.sys files → Core driver files that control the fingerprint hardware.
.dll files → Support libraries for biometric authentication functions.
.cat files → Digital signature catalog files that verify the driver’s authenticity.
These files work together to enable the fingerprint reader on your VAIO, allowing you to use Windows Hello for secure sign-in.

Ensure you are logged in as an Administrator.
Save your work and close any running applications.
Extract the downloaded ZIP file to a known location (e.g., Desktop or Downloads folder).
Ensure your fingerprint sensor is not working or shows a yellow warning icon in Device Manager.

Press Windows + X → select Device Manager.
Expand Biometric devices (you may see "Fingerprint Sensor" or the sensor’s brand name such as Synaptics, Validity, or Elan).
Right-click the device → choose Update driver.
Select Browse my computer for drivers.
Click Browse and navigate to the extracted Fingerprint driver folder.
Click Next and follow the prompts to install.
Restart your computer.

Open Windows Settings → Accounts → Sign-in options.
Under Windows Hello Fingerprint, set up your fingerprint login.
Test the fingerprint sensor by locking your PC (Windows + L) and unlocking it with your fingerprint.
Confirm the sensor is listed in Device Manager > Biometric devices without warnings.
